Varatharaja Nallathambi (MS student) was awarded “Best poster award” at the International Conference on Advanced Thermostructural Materials and Thermal Protection Systems (ADTHERM’20) held during 19-21 January 2020 in Trivandrum, India.
Prof. Ravi Kumar took over as an "Associate Editor" of the journal "Advances in Materials Science and Engineering" on 4th May 2020.
Prof. Ravi Kumar was nominated by IIT Madras to coordinate and organize sessions under the horizontal “Materials and Processing Technologies (MPT)”, Vaibhav Summit in the month of October 2020. He also organized a session on “Structural Ceramics” on 7th October 2020 which was participated by experts from India and Indian diaspora.
Bindu Madhavi (M.Tech student) received the DAAD scholarship under ‘Combined Study and Practice Stays for Engineers from Developing Countries (KOSPIE)’ to work on “Single source precursor synthesis and structural characterization of complex carbides and carbonitrides” under PD. Dr. Emanuel Ionescu at TU Darmstadt, Germany from November 2020 to March 2021.
Kousik Papakollu (Doctoral student) received the DAAD scholarship under ‘Research Grants - Bi-nationally Supervised Doctoral Degrees/Cotutelle 2020-21’ to work on "Precursor derived ceramic nanocomposites for catalytic applications" at TU Darmstadt, Germany under the supervision of PD. Dr. Emanuel Ionescu for a period of one year starting from March 2021.
Prof. Ravi Kumar took charge as Head of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, IIT Madras on 23rd Nov 2020.
Manikandan G (Doctoral student) was awarded "Soft Matter" poster prize at Soft Matter: Young Investigators e-Meet (SMYIM-2020) held during 03-05 December 2020 by Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
Awin Wasan (Postdoctoral researcher) received the short term grant of the University of Bayreuth Centre of International Excellence “Alexander von Humboldt” (2020). He will be working on “Design and processing of novel heterogeneous catalytic nanocomposite fibers based on polymer derived ceramics approach” under the supervision of Dr. Guenter Motz for a period of five months starting from February 2021 at the University of Bayreuth, Germany.
Awin received the DAAD scholarship under ‘Future Talent Guest Stay Program (2020)’. He will be working under the supervision of PD. Dr. Emanuel Ionescu at TU Darmstadt, Germany from July to September 2021.
Nithin Chandran B S has been selected by India’s Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) Overseas Visiting Doctoral Fellowship Program (OVDF) at Purdue University. Nithin is one of the 25 PhD students from India, selected for the third cohort of this prestigious research program. He will spend one year from Jan 2022 in the Layered Materials and Structures Lab (LMSL) of Dr. Babak Anasori at Purdue University
Abishek M has been selected for the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF). The PMRF scheme has been designed for improving the quality of research in various higher educational institutions in the country. The scheme seeks to attract the best talent into research thereby realising the vision of development through innovation.
Geddam Yaswanth kumar has been selected for the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) Scholarship in Germany which is the world's largest funding organisation for international students from developing countries.. In this program he will be working in Dispersiv Festestoff lab in TU Darmstadt under Prof. Emanuel Ionecu for one semester on his master’s thesis.
S S Lokesh Vendra has visited the Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS, US as a part of his doctoral thesis for a period of three months (14 Sep- 14 Dec 2021). He worked under the co-supervision of Professor Gurpreet Singh for his doctoral thesis involves research activities in Kansas State University.
In NanoArtography 2021, Shivam Kumar Dwivedi with Abishek M were awarded third place. NanoArtography is an international science image competition that combines nanoscience and art. This year of the competition has garnered over 198 submissions, and researchers from over 28 different countries submitted images of their research to illustrate what they are studying and showcase its beauty.
Congratulations Lalith bhaskar for being awarded the Institute Research Award 2021-22. Institute Research Award is awarded to scholars on recognition of Quality of the Research Work done by them. The award consist of a merit certificate and a cash award that will be presented at the Institute Day every year.
